Weber Spirit II E-310 3-Burner Black 30,000-BTU LP Gas Grill Hennick’s Do it Best Home Center

Weber, which makes all three of the grills we recommend, guarantees all parts on its Spirit II series for 10 years. So we expect our top and budget picks to hold up for at least that long. Weber also guarantees major parts on its 2022 Genesis grills—including the grates, hoods, burner tubes, lid assembly, and cookbox—for at least 10 years. Weber’s other new addition to the Spirit line, the Spirit SP-335, is basically the S-315 with a built-in side burner and a dedicated high-heat searing area on the grill. We don’t recommend grills with side burners because we don’t think that extra feature is worth the $100-plus markup. We think you’re better off saving over $200 with the Spirit II E-310.

We chose grills with fireboxes made of cast aluminum because the firebox is a major part of the grill, it’s difficult to replace, and aluminum is resistant to rust and corrosion. Cheaper grills have thin enameled steel fireboxes that are prone to damage and holes from rust. Once your grill has a rusty hole in the firebox, it’s destined for the scrap heap. Since the Spirit II E-210 has only two burners, indirect cooking may present a bit of a challenge.

The burner hoods (metal “tents” that sit over the burners and guide grease away from the flames to prevent flare-ups) are usually the first to go. Weber’s warranty covers burner hoods on the 2022 Genesis char broil performance models and all parts on the Spirit II models for 10 years. Or you could find third-party options that claim higher performance and long lifespans (though we haven’t tested these claims ourselves).

Well, you get a bit more fire power per burner, but apart from that there isn’t too much difference here. It is up to you to decide whether this is worth the higher price tag. Speaking of thermometers, this grill can be hooked up to the Weber’s app connected thermometer. This accessory char broil performance isn’t available with the grill and is sold separately. Not necessarily, I would argue that you can get a similar advantage with a good digital thermometer. This is one of the main elements that you need to look at when choosing any grill, and the Weber Spirit II E 310 is no different.

But the difference is minimal, especially if you’re not doing a side-by-side comparison of the two. Some folks think cast-iron grates distribute heat better across the grilling surface than stainless steel. But in our research we found that the design and the materials that make up the grilling system are what determine heat distribution.

Shelves are usually made of stainless steel or painted steel (some using a powder-coating process), though a few are made of plastic.

That being said, it is a nice way to enjoy upgrades with your Weber Spirit II E 310 without having to splurge on high end models. It can also be an interesting accesory to have if you aren’t a fan of hanging around the grill all day long. If you want to cook food more gradually, then it is simply a matter of leaving the middle burner off. After using the Weber Spirit II E 310, I didn’t really notice any additional flavor. Also, while they can mitigate flare ups, there is still the possibility of these occuring. The side shelves are definitely a great feature and practically a must at this price point.
