I really started cooking in earnest with my family, and I want to help you cook tasty, nutritious food as easily as possible. Like the other Gotham Steel products, this one comes with a 10-year warranty. But like the other products, the value and extent of the warranty is questionable.
The first thing I noticed is that the cookware is lightweight. The advantage is that it’s easy to maneuver from stove to oven and agile enough to flip eggs or pancakes with little effort. The downside is that it feels somewhat cheap and prone to dents and warping.
This is what Gotham Steel is known for, and most come with a tempered glass lid. All cookware is made from titanium and ceramic with an aluminum base. Even the stock/pasta pots have a nonstick surface, so you can saute the veggies for soup with little to no oil or butter. Calphalon wears its reputation for high-end cookware well, but it also offers midpriced lines for homecooked meals.
This is because of the aluminum bodyplus the encapsulated base that makes the pans induction compatible. Thus, these pans contain the most aluminum of any Gotham Steel line, so you’ll see better, more even heating and a greater ability to hang onto heat than with the other lines. It’s still not excellent, but at this price point especially, it’s far from awful. You can also sometimes restore the slippery surface to ceramic nonstick pans by scrubbing them gently with an abrasive pad. Nonstick surfaces can get buildup that reduces their nonstick properties, so if you can reduce the buildup, you can make the surface slippery again.
Tramontina’s Nesting 11-Piece Non-Stick Cookware Set takes up half the space of standard cookware, but still carries a reasonable price tag.
