Keurig® K-Mini Plus® Single-Serve K-Cup Pod® Coffee Maker

The idea of a single-serve may be appealing to someone who lives alone, but you can’t make big batches of coffee at once to accommodate more people. In fact, you have to refill the reservoir for every cup, so you can’t even continually hit the brew button. The machine has a strong brew button for a stronger flavor.

Perfect for the coffee lover who prefers a bolder coffee. It brews coffee a little slower than I thought it would. It makes a nice single cup of coffee for me each morning as I start my day. The water reservoirs Keurig K-Mini of both machines are the same size, offering a minimum of 6oz and a maximum of 12oz. There are water level marks on the side to determine the volumes, making filling the water tank straightforward.

This is great news for people who like drinking their coffee in larger volumes, or want to brew more than 6oz of coffee for whatever reason. With this coffee maker, it’s all about enjoying coffee, as opposed to indulging in the coffee brewing process. I did not need any advanced skills or knowledge in order to brew a neat cup of coffee. If you really like this model but you want a bigger water tank, they now make Keurig K-Slim. It looks exactly like K-Mini Plus, has 3 cup sizes, but comes with a 46 ounce removable water tank. This machine includes pod storage that slides right into your brewer to hold nine of your favorite K-Cups when you’re not using it.

Like its predecessor Keurig Mini, the brewer has a single cup reservoir. You can brew any cup size between 6-12 ounces depending on how much water you pour into the tank. A single cup reservoir ensures that the water is always fresh, but it will require some extra time for heating the water for each cup. The reservoir can be removed from the base so it’s easy to rinse and refill.

This means you may have to pull the K-Mini out to reach it, depending on your counter situation. It’s difficult to review a Keurig coffee machine without mentioning its environmental impact. Keurig brewers have developed a negative reputation for their large environmental footprint, and it’s not entirely unwarranted. The K-Cups themselves continue to be non-recyclable in many jurisdictions, leading to overflowing landfills . The narrow 4.5″ Hamilton Beach Plus works just like the K-Mini and brews every drop of water you add to its 12 oz water reservoir. Keurig’s slimmest brewer, the K-Mini Plus is just like the K-Mini (4.5″ wide and refill before each use) but adds several worthy upgrades.

At HomeGrounds, we always recommend taking advantage of this option. From an environmental standpoint, you’ll be keeping the non-recyclable plastic K-Cups out of landfills, which is reason enough . But you’ll also be able to make better quality coffee.

Keurig K-Mini

As you can see from our 5/5 star rating for “ease of use,” the K Mini Plus is extremely easy to use – even if you’ve never used a standard coffee machine before. While the instructions can probably make things pretty clear, we’ll do a quick outline of the simple steps here. The temperature of the brew consistently sat between 160 and 170 F degrees.

Whether it is BPA-free or not, this plastic comes into direct contact with scorching hot water. As you may know by now, I am personally very concerned about using products in which boiling water touches plastic. As I was preparing the Cuisinart Coffee review, I tried to research what the product is made of. This feature is programmed to turn of the coffee maker automatically after it has been idle for 90 seconds. This helps me save energy and, in consequence, it helps me save money too.

Its 5-inch design makes it perfect for studio apartments, tiny dorm rooms, and small officers. Its convenient size comes as no surprise to us, as the entire Keurig brand aims to make coffee easy and accessible to anyone. It has a single light around its large brew button to show when your machine is heating up, and, of course, it has a latch to raise the compartment that the pod slots into. You can add however much ground coffee you like to your reusable K-Cup , providing another way to play with coffee strength. Most coffee lovers find that K-Cups are under-dosed, particularly for brewing larger coffees.
