In August 1955, the Eisenhower administration implemented a 22.5% tariff rate for three out of four categories of bicycles. However, the most popular adult category, lightweight or “racer” bicycles, were only raised to 11.25%. The wheel rims were likewise robust, chromed, stamped steel with a unique profile designed to hold the tire bead securely, even if pressure were low or lost. After a series of production cuts and labor force reductions, Schwinn was able to restructure its operations.
Shwinn’s has a reputaion for budget range bikes, however Shwinn do have a higher end range which are better quality. Remeber, if you are a serious mountain biker or road rider, then you might want to invest in differnt brands, but for the average cyclist a Shwinn bike is a perfectly good option. Schwinn make just about every type of recreational, commuter and fitness bike that you can imagine, plus they have an extensive range for children. They are not a brand that makes performance machines designed for road racing, triathlons, or the various mountain biking disciplines. If you want to ride to keep fit, as an alternative form of transport, or for the enjoyment of being outside and exploring on two wheels, Schwinn is an excellent choice.

Its overall condition seems average with its rusted-up appearance which can be fixed with a little repainting. While I’m no longer growing (at least not up…out is a different story!), I wasn’t sure exactly how/where I’d be riding the most.
