Some devices, such as 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring devices, can be worn all day long to measure blood pressure at 30-minute to 2-hour intervals. Such a blood pressure monitor, however, consists of a cuff wearable around the upper arm and a main unit wearable around the waist and connected via a rubber tube to the cuff, which considerably limits the free mobility of the user. It is difficult to spend every day wearing such a device all day long.
The participants were seated in a quiet room with a comfortable temperature and were instructed to avoid talking during the procedure. The BP measurements started after the participants had rested for 10 min. The participants sat on a chair with omron 5 series their legs uncrossed and their feet flat on the floor. Still, it is unlikely for that time to come within several years.
Up to now, only two prior reports have assessed blood pressure monitoring at high altitude. Both studies, however, did not firmly follow an accepted validation protocol for their investigations. Further evaluation is still needed to assess the functionality and suitability of blood pressure measuring devices, particularly automated devices, in these parts of the world.
