Cuisinart Clermont Pellet Grill & Smoker

I liked the idea of the doors rather than a lid. This is a residential grade product that will likely be used at weekends etc. Well, in certain cases you don’t want to leave pellets in the hopper. If the pellets start to absorb moisture from the air, you’ve potentially got problems.

We also liked that the digital control panel used temperature increments of five degrees, allowing us to create more precise temperatures. The grill also allows for an extra smoke mode, with settings that range from 1 to 10. The WiFi- and Bluetooth-connected app was great for changing and monitoring both grill temperature and the four thermometer ports, too. Hi, I’m Lindsay Mattison, a trained professional chef and a barbecue weekend warrior. You’ll find me outside almost every weekend, cooking over an open fire pit or smoking on a pellet grill. I’ve tested over three dozen grills over the years for Reviewed, so I’ve learned a thing or two about what works (and what doesn’t).

After a period of storage, inspect the grill for abrasion, wear, cuts, or damage to the temperature controller and power cord. Unplug this grill from the power source when not in use and before cleaning. Allow appliance to cool down before attempting to clean or service.

Dial thermometers are often off by as much as 50°F so if you are not using a good digital thermometer we probably can’t help you with time and temp questions.

This means two things, first, you get a better cook, but you also don’t waste pellets heating the grill to unnecessarily high temperatures. The missing PID functionality of the Cuisinart Clermont I do think is not great on a pellet grill/smoker for this price. However, the Pit Boss Lockhart provides a total cooking area of 2,136 square inches, hence quite a bit more than the Clermont. Well, Cuisinart state that a cooking area of 1,400 square inches is provided. However, with cooking areas on pellet grills/smokers, you always have to take the figures in context.

They’re made by compressing wood that’s ground into sawdust, and grill pellets are usually made with 100% hardwood or contain food-grade oils to add flavor. Next up, we wanted to know how the pellet grill worked with high-heat temperatures. We cranked the dial up to 500°F (or the highest setting if the grill didn’t have that setting).

So cuisinart soup maker the good things first, I do like the large screen on the Clermont providing clear temperature information etc. I also like the large temperature dial, very similar to the temperature control panel cuisinart griddler elite on the Cuisinart Woodcreek and Twin Oaks. Also, while as I discuss above that I don’t think a very large 40 lb pellet hopper is really necessary, placing the control on top of the hopper makes it easier to read/use.

Most notably, the open design is ripe to start grease fires after smoking fatty meats like brisket or pulled pork one day and cranking it up to 500°F to sear the next. While we were happy to see that Weber improved the pellet delivery system in the second generation model , we wish they had also updated the control panel. It doesn’t cuisinart griddler elite display an accurate grill temperature, instead displaying the same number as the grill’s set temperature most of the time. That meant we had to rely on our ambient probe to trust the actual temp. Like all outdoor cookers, pellet smokers must be cleaned periodically. Ash collects in the bottom of the smoke box and the fire pot.

I’ve previously done a Pit Boss vs Cuisinart comparison article where I reference that Pit Boss also doesn’t state the main grate size on the Lockhart. From the look of the two grills, I actually think the main cooking grate on both products is probably very similar in size. My general thoughts on the Clermont match the phase ‘two steps forward, one step back’. Hence, there is some progress here, however, its not where it needs to be on price/features. It not only looks sophisticated, it sets this pellet grill apart from others, because of the huge windows and massive cooking space. With superior counter space and hidden storage, I highly recommend the Clermont.

Turn the 3 burners of the gas grill section at Hi and let everything burn up for about minutes. You should be all good to start grilling immediately after. Instead of a fixed open flame like gas or charcoal grills, pellet grills use a hopper and firebox system.
