Coleman Tenaya 8-Person Cabin Tent Is a Camper Favorite

Along with our in-house experts, our team analyzes thousands of product reviews from the most trusted websites. Customers found the stakes more durable than they thought they’d be, and the bulk of the tent durable to the elements. The floor material is durable enough that unless you are camping on rocky terrain, it should provide adequate protection. It is a three-season tent that is best suited to fair-weather camping throughout summer and in the milder months of fall and spring.

Mountain Hardwear’s plastic clips and aluminum poles handled well and fit together easily. As far as shapes go, most stand-up height tents use a cabin-style shape, with nearly vertical walls and relatively flat ceilings to maximize interior space. Cabin-style tents are also the least aerodynamic coleman tents though, so if you’re planning on camping in areas with high winds, you may want to consider an alternative like a tunnel, dome, or wedge-shaped shelter. On the interior the Skydome boasts above average head/elbow room thanks to it’s near-vertical walls and tall peak height.

With tents readily available to sleep two or more families, you can turn your camping excursion into an outing to remember. Of course, if you’re using this tent without the rain fly in dry weather, it’s even easier to setup. You still have to stake the tent, then equip the rain fly over the top of the tent. If you make this a two or more person job, you’ll speed things along, but it’s still not a long setup process.

Whether you’re a group of weekend warriors that are short on time, or you’re a family that wants to simplify your camp set up, these winning tents will make camping with kids a whole lot more satisfying. The Instant Tent 6 is also lacking a couple of other features that would help it compete with several similar tents. There’s also no room divider, but this was less of a priority given the lack of entryways.

I wouldn’t consider this as an instant tent as it takes more time to set up. The poles are not pre-attached, you have to lay them one by one and attach them to the tent body. You will also need another person to help out with the setting up. The built-in rainfly is an interesting add-on as you don’t have to spend extra time pulling a separate rainfly over to cover the tent. It’s also a thoughtful design to add two vents at the rainfly so to allow airflow and prevent condensation. People who often go away from home and camp in the woods need to buy this tent.
