Light in weight, this is easy to move in and out of storage. However, that lightweight construction means it’s not heavily insulated, so it gets hot on the outside during cooking. Fortunately, we found that the large front handle always stayed cool enough to hold, no matter what we cooked. Starting off with a little history, Black+Decker was established in 1910 and the company started out with a simple machine shop that was situated in Baltimore.
There was so much smoke that I had to open up all of my doors and windows and my smoke alarm started going off. I brought it back to Walmart and they gave me my money back and I bought a different toaster oven. This is very dangerous and I do not recommend anyone buying a Black & Decker toaster oven. I have had many toaster ovens over the years, they have functioned very well. This was a very scary experience as the fire could have caused more damage outside of the toaster oven. The top dial, which controls the temperature, has temperatures marked, along with settings for warm, bake, toast, broil, and air fry.
I haven’t used the toaster oven in 3 weeks, yet the oven was on full blast-over heated it seems. When set to 375˚ Fahrenheit and allowed it to preheat, our testing thermometer fluctuated between 400˚ and 425˚ — much hotter than the set temperature. When we cranked the temperature higher, that discrepancy shrunk a bit. For example, when we set the temperature to 400˚, the actual temperature never got above 410˚.
The print surrounding the two knobs is black on the silver surface of the toaster. While that should have offered enough contrast to read, sometimes we had to get close or approach at a different angle to see the settings clearly on the reflective surface. Black+ Decker toaster ovens can cost as little as $40 for a basic model to as much as $100 or more for a model that has more features. Ensure that no food has fallen onto or near the heating element of your toaster oven after each usage.
