Q Electric Series Electric Grills

Throughout my testing, I was easily able to achieve temperatures of 450 to 500 degrees with this portable grill, which was enough for my needs. However, if you like to cook with really high temperatures—I’m talking over 500 degrees—you might have trouble getting there with only one burner. If you want a lighter grill and aren’t cooking for more than a few people, the Q1200 is a great option. If you want more room for food and are willing to lug around a bit more weight, then the Q2200 is more in line with what you are looking for. If you’re looking for a new gas grill that can slide into your car for a weekend getaway or tailgate, you probably have looked at the portable bbq-series of grills.

The tank storage system not only locks the propane tank in place so it can’t shift around, but also uses the weight of the tank to counter balance the rest of the grill’s weight. The lighter is charged by a large red button weber charcoal grill (I love big red buttons) which worked first time every time we tested it. The button is also sturdy and placed cleverly enough not to be pressed accidentally by you leaning on the grill or while using other functions.

Despite this, I wouldn’t say that the grilling space is overly compact. This is because you have enough room for 12 burgers or a few more hot dogs at one time on the cooking grates. They also offer two models with 285 square inches of cooking space and 20,000 BTUs, the X-Cursion and the 285.

Now, this brand specializes in the manufacture of gas, charcoal, and electric grills with weber genesis 2 Series being one of their popular grill series. After a quick read through of the manual, even first timers shouldn’t have too much trouble figuring how it works. If you are looking for a temperature higher than this, though, you may find the Weber Q 2200 faltering.

This can save you a lot of time, particularly when you are trying to grill somewhere outside of your home. The Traveler is big enough to cook for a crowd, looks great and doesn’t take up much space when not in use. You can set up or collapse the grill with one hand while you are holding a beer in another.

I have to say, overall, I was impressed with what a good cooking performance the Weber Q 2200 offers up. Although it has a few limitations that you wouldn’t necessarily find with a whole grill, I did enjoy grilling on it. Last, but certainly, not least there is the stainless steel burner that offers both quality as well as power. There are five different Q grills with different sizes, prices and features so making blanket comparisons to the Traveler is  not straight forward. Let’s take a look at the table that I put together below that compares the base features of size and features before we talk about the big picture. After about 15 minutes of preheating both the Q grills and Traveler will have grate temperatures approaching 600F.

The X-Cursion has two burners while the 285 has three burners. The 285 also has two side tables, while the X-Cursion only has one. Moreover, you even get a sliding removable catch pan to collect excess grease from the slanted grease plate. This pan is placed at a distance from the heating element for safety as well.
