Weber Q 1200 LP Gas Grill GRILLS

But considering the quality of their products, you can expect a long and happy culinary relationship with this grill. They also offer two models with 285 square inches of cooking space and 20,000 BTUs, the X-Cursion and the 285. The X-Cursion has two burners while the 285 has three burners. The 285 also has two side tables, while the X-Cursion only has one. The Q1000 Series is lighter and more compact, while the Q2000 series has more grilling space and a taller lid.

The 2200 has the same features as the Q 2000, but also has the additional feature of the built-in thermometer. I also own a Weber Q2200, which I have not done a review on, but I did write a review on its older model, the Weber Q220, which you can find here. This is all of the information that I can share with you at this time. I can’t help you decide which model is best for you, but I can tell you that I currently own two Qs, and they are both outstanding.

The Q2000 comes with the standard push-button ignition and no thermometer. These two grills are larger than the Q1000 series but retain their portability. The larger size means not only more grilling space but also a taller lid. This tabletop grill gives you many more cooking options, such as roasts, ribs, even whole chickens, and smaller turkeys. Indeed a strong combination of portability and full-size grill cooking. The series contains eight different models that come in different sizes with various features and include liquid propane, natural gas, and electric models.

When it comes to other items such as roasts or ribs, you may find that the lid is a little too shallow and the cooking area is just a bit too small. But even understanding the reasons behind the weight does not benefit this grill’s portability. Again, considering this grill against all other tabletop models in this review, the Q 1200 “packs down” to a less-than-reasonable 3.2 cubic-feet.

The grill was incredibly easy to use—with a push of the ignition button, a blue flame quickly shot up all around the stainless steel burner, which circles the bottom of the grill body. From charcoal to gas to pellet grills, there are plenty of grills on the market that are capable of fulfilling all of your grilling needs. Gas grills, in particular, are great due to their ability to control the heat temperature while they’re in use.

Not surprisingly, this grill doesn’t offer the control of full-size grills. This is not to say that it cannot be controlled, but that it will likely take a bit of a learning curve until you figure out how to do so. Temperature control tends to run away if this grill still has room to heat, i.e., it has yet to achieve its maximum temperature. Still, our testers were able to control the heat of this grill better than other models. As a portable gas grill that will likely appeal to novice cooks and experienced chefs alike, the accessibility of the Q 1200 is a major selling point. The battery-powered electronic ignition is the same you will find on a high-end, full-size grill.

The enameled cast iron cooking grates are easier to clean and distribute heat more efficiently. Unequivocally, the Weber Q 1200 is a fantastic portable grill, taking the top spot as our favorite. However, it is relatively expensive compared to other top models we tested. In particular, the Cuisinart Grillster produces a ton of power for a gas grill, and is offered at a phenomenal price. The infrared Solaire Everywhere also packs a punch for its size, and should be on the radar of any meat griller.

It’s 11 inches shorter in length, three inches shallower in depth, and is 12 pounds lighter. Our R&D department develops high-quality, fairly priced grilling weber charcoal grill equipment. I often sell a grill after I’ve finished my reviews, but these two grills I keep for the day that I don’t have to review grills anymore.

I’m not sure if the pan itself was just a fraction too big or if the grill’s legs were bent, but eventually, I ended up using a pair of snips to trim a few centimeters off either side of the tray. I was curious if this was a common issue with the grill, and after combing through hundreds of reviews, I couldn’t find any mention of other people having this problem. It seems like it was a one-off fluke, and honestly, the resolution was simple enough that it didn’t bother me too much. She’s an expert on all things home, including kitchen appliances, grills, and other cooking gadgets. Weber has replacement drip pans available to purchase, as well as covers to help keep the grills protected from the elements. If you want a lighter grill that’s easier to transport, then the Q1200 might be the better option.

The portable bbq 1200 is an unexpectedly powerful grill, resulting in cook times that were much faster than expected for such a petite barbecue. Like other top models, this is all thanks to a single, U-shaped burner that effectively delivers heat across the range of the grill surface. Both grills have identical warranties with five-year coverage on the cookbox, lid assembly, burner tubes, cooking grates, and plastic components while covering every other part for two years.
