Dyson 360 Eye review: Dyson’s first robot vacuum is good, but not quite good enough

They both have drop sensors to prevent falling off stairs or ledges. The Roomba 980 utilizes tangle-free brushless extractors; the 360 Eye has brush filled rotating bars. Since the bin is facing towards the dock, you’ll need to remove the robot from it to gain access to the bin. Consumers advise that you measure the height of your furniture to see if it has at least 12 centimeters of clearance to see if the robot will be able to go through it.

Powered by Dyson’s V2 motor, which Spins at 78,000rpm, Dyson informs us that it has 20% more suction than the 360 Eye. The 360 Heurist has plenty of performance improvements over the original 360 to make it a better cleaner – we’ll get to those – but the most intriguing feature is night vision. The good news is you can prevent this from happening using some settings in the app, which I’ll get onto in a bit. However, if you have furniture with small gaps underneath them the Heurist obviously won’t be able to limbo its way in there. In my house, we have a big side cabinet that our Roborock machines have no issues navigating under but the Dyson doesn’t come close to getting involved.

Delivery is Monday to Friday 9am – 6pm local time, not including statutory holidays. If a delivery cannot be completed (for example, if you’re not home), the carrier will leave a notification at your door indicating where you can pick up your order. If your robot encounters an issue during a clean, an Amber ring will be displayed around the icon section.

The Micro is as compact as Dyson gets but its diminutive size is deceptive as it gets the job done over the course of its 20-minute battery life. The 0.2-litre capacity isn’t all that sizeable but should carry you through in smaller living spaces or if used for single-room bissell crosswave cordless cleaning. At this price, there’s very little to complain about with the X8 Hybrid. Everything is easy breezy with this device, you simply let it go. But, when you do need to add an attachment or customise the vacuum’s functions at all, that’s super simple to do as well.

Basically, the 360 Eye stands as proof that Dyson can make as big a splash in the robot vacuum market as it has nearly everywhere else. Still, at $999, we think it’s worth waiting for the next version. bissell crosswave cordless As impressive as Dyson’s clever technology is, there are robot vacuums that clean better for less. The Roomba 980 has a top mount video camera that allows it to map the cleaning area with a visual map.

Or switch off the brush bar motor in quiet zones or over long-haired rugs. A powerful quad core processor allows the robot to create a map of your home and update it during each clean. 8GB of flash memory; 32 times that of its predecessor enables continuous learning and improvement during the clean. Dyson appears to be readying a new robot vacuum, possibly for US release. The Dyson Link app gives you access to live status of your cleaner, schedules plus maps of previous cleans, and you can also remotely start a clean from your smartphone. The Heurist can access small crevices between furniture that rival cleaners can’t squeeze into and it also sails through chair legs like they’re not there.

Other innovations include Dyson’s flagship cyclonic suction technology, powered by the same motor that’s found in Dyson’s handheld vacuums. A washable filter and dust bin are both hygienic and economical. It’s the advanced controls that really prove useful, allowing you to set restrictions to control how the 360 Heurist. The Avoid Area option is basically the no-go option on other cleaners, but there are two other options alongside. The No Brush Bar option turns off the spinning bar, which is good for more delicate hard floors and for deep-pile carpets. Finally, there’s a No Climb option, which prevents the robot from trying to lift up over obstacles, such as furniture that has support bars.

The WIRED conversation illuminates how technology is changing every aspect of our lives—from culture to business, science to design. The breakthroughs and innovations that we uncover lead to new ways of thinking, new connections, and new industries. According to iRobot, it makes 60 navigational decisions per second, and having watched it work through a tangle of chair legs we’re happy to believe it.

However, we found that they were a little too powerful, and sometimes kept pushing after bumping into obstacles. This caused the vacuum to rock thinner items of furniture such as lamps or coat-stands. Its metallic blue casing looks slick, while ensuring that the vacuum is easy to spot. We loved the headlights on this robot’s 360° camera bissell crosswave cordless – these were effective at lighting the way when the robot went into the dark corners and under furniture. Quiet mode is a setting on the 360 Eye that will prolong the battery life by making the vacuum use less suction. In normal mode, the decibel rating is just about 57db, which is just about as loud as your alarm clock or hair dryer.
