A Compact Treasure Trove: The Weber Q 2200 Review 2022 Update

Weber grills and smokerscook beautifully and have great features that are clever, effective and easy to use. Even in this crowded marketplace, many consumers are still willing to pay more for the Weber name and they are rarely disappointed. Their iconic black charcoal kettles are known throughout the world. One of the benefits of this gas grill – and others like it – is that size doesn’t matter. As long as it is hooked up to enough propane gas, it is able to produce a good amount of heat. This model, in particular, does a great job of reaching higher temperatures.

Below is a comparison table of all current weber charcoal grill models. The series contains eight different models that come in different sizes with various features and include liquid propane, natural gas, and electric models. Choose from small, bare-bones models or full-sized models with all of the bells and whistles. Naturally, the Weber Q 2200 is meant to be portable, so its small cooking space isn’t too surprising. Despite this, I wouldn’t say that the grilling space is overly compact. This is because you have enough room for 12 burgers or a few more hot dogs at one time on the cooking grates.

Size-wise and feature-wise, the Weber Q1400 is identical to the Weber Q1000, and the Q2400 is the same size as the Q2000. The major exceptions are that neither model has a button to light it since they do not use gas fuel. Our outdoor kitchen design experts have helped thousands of customers transform their backyards at no extra cost.

After a quick read through of the manual, even first timers shouldn’t have too much trouble figuring how it works. The stand has a tank screen to keep the bottle from view. I think that’s quite handy, as it also protects from the elements, meaning your propane tank won’t rust out if you live in more humid areas.

At the same time, the structure ensures stability – even with the additional weight of food. My experience with both of these grills has been excellent. I don’t use them much anymore because I’m always testing new portable grills, but let me expand on that. The Q1000 Series is lighter and more compact, while the Q2000 series has more grilling space and a taller lid. You will find a model in each series that has a built-in thermometer and folding side tables.

While it doesn’t mean that ribs and similar foods are of the table, it can make it trickier to cook them. After all, grilling on a lower temperature doesn’t have nearly the same effect. The biggest issue here would be with the fact that there is only one burner. Now, given the size of the model this isn’t too surprising, but it does create a small issue when it comes to indirect cooking. I have to say, overall, I was impressed with what a good cooking performance the Weber Q 2200 offers up. Although it has a few limitations that you wouldn’t necessarily find with a whole grill, I did enjoy grilling on it.

If you are looking for a temperature higher than this, though, you may find the 2200 faltering. Of course, this is true of bigger and more expensive grills. I also can’t imagine too many instances when you would need this kind of power, especially when grilling in small outdoor spaces. What’s more, the domed lid creates space for larger roasts. A whole chicken or even a small brisket shouldn’t be too much hard work on this grill. Thus, you do have a few more options for what you can cook with the Weber Q2200.

As with most of these, you do have to be wary of them – they tend to be off by a few degrees in either direction. You will have no problem getting up to 500 Fahrenheit degrees, something that you can expect with larger grills. Thus, you can easily tackle all kinds of meat and can even give searing a try. Last, but certainly, not least there is the stainless steel burner that offers both quality as well as power.
