Weber Q 1200 Propane BBQ Black

The grill surface itself also has a lot to do with the effectiveness of the Q 1200. Unlike so many other grills that are outfitted with a simple, stainless steel grate, the range of this barbecue is porcelain-enameled cast iron. While it is likely best known in its skillet form, this material is famous for heat retention and the resulting even distribution across the cook surface. Furthermore, the liquid propane grill provides BTU-per-hour from its two burners that can heat the grill quite fast. Apart from this, the high lid helps to distribute the heat evenly on the grill, while the infinite heat control system helps to maintain the temperature.

One of the major selling points of this grill is its two fold-out side tables, which are each 12.5 x 13.5 inches. They’re the perfect spot to place a plate, condiments, and grilling tools, and I used them pretty much every time I grilled. Additionally, Q2200 has a higher lid and a larger cookbox for better heat circulation. This is why we have also included this model into our five best tabletop grills list. Furthermore, space is enough to feed a family of four and can accommodate almost eight burgers, five tenderloins, or a rack of ribs on it.

We use an adapter hose to conncet directly to the propane port on our travel trailer. The heavy duty cast iron grates pre-heat evenly, and are easy to clean. The side tables make good work areas when the grill is in use and fold nicely for storage. We have been impressed how well the igniter works, the easy to clean heating surfaces, and rugged design.

And for speedy clean up, it has a removable drip pan. You can cook about six burgers at a time on the Q 1000’s 189 square inch grilling surface. Instead of functioning on liquid propane gas cylinders like the first two models, this is an electrically-operated model. It’s heating element uses 1560-watt power to heat the available 189 square inches of cooking space. With the Q1400 model, you get an evenly heated grill to give you evenly tenderized meat every time without dealing with charcoal or propane tanks anymore. weber genesis 2 1200 Propane BBQ -A gas, portable grill with porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grate, push button ignition, and infinite control burner valve.

But behind that weight, you have a glass-reinforced nylon frame, supporting a cast aluminum body and lid, that cover a porcelain-enameled cast iron cook surface. All of these are heavy-duty, making the Q 1200 sturdy, durable, and likely to last a very long time. The core aspects of these two grills are nearly identical. Both types of grills feature a burner that wraps around the underneath a set of heavy duty cast iron cooking grates.

The Traveler is large, but highly portable, and packs serious searing power. But even understanding the reasons behind the weight does not benefit this grill’s portability. Again, considering this grill against all other tabletop models in this review, the Q 1200 “packs down” to a less-than-reasonable 3.2 cubic-feet. We put that phrase in quotations because the only thing that packs away are the side tables, which do conveniently fold up securely underneath the lid. Purchased at bjs problem is the 16 oz propane cans do not fit without forcing the regulator to the side because the can is forced sideways by the handle. I have seen this complaint in other reviews WEBER needs to get off their arse and fix this.

Thus, similar foods of similar sizes cook at the same rate. As far as heat retention goes, the cast aluminum lid does a pretty good job at keeping the heat trapped inside. As long as you keep the lid closed, you shouldn’t portable bbq lose heat and will be able to cook the food faster. Like the Q2200, the Traveler is designed to run off of disposable 1 pound propane bottles, but you can get an adapter to fire the grills from a 20 pound propane tank.

Last up is the cart itself, which while functional, is about as flimsy as the tables. The cart will do perfectly fine while you are grilling your burgers but has quite a bit of wobble once you grab a brush and try to scrape it clean. The cart does collapse and you can roll the thing around but you will not want to. There is no lid latch to keep the lid closed during transport and the grates will bounce around, and then out, of the grill while you are rolling the cart. The Q2200 has a single burner the goes around the body of the grill.

A durable, tough, and trustworthy grill can make all the difference between a successful and a failed barbeque party. It is always better to invest your money in one that can last for a long time. We highly recommend you to go for the Weber Q Series, which contains all the best features for you.
