This might be the first time in TMS history, that we had to go to a retail store, track down a pair of headphones, and retest them to make sure we weren’t losing our minds – or our hearing. We tested two other pairs of Studio3 Wireless, and one other pair of Solo3 Wireless, just to double check that we weren’t missing something. And, without one shred of a doubt, we can say that our conclusion was the same. These are the worst pair of headphones we have ever tested in this price-range.

These headphones come with a detachable 1/8″ TRRS cable that has an in-line remote microphone. They also come with a micro-USB to USB-A cable for recharging the headphones. Unfortunately, they don’t support multi-device or NFC pairing. However, they’re easier to pair than the original Beats Studio Wireless. They also have low latency on iOS and Android devices, which is nice if you stream video. However, their latency on PCs is much higher, which may cause issues with audio and video syncing. That said, some apps and devices tend to compensate for latency differently, and your mileage may vary.

The adaptive Active Noise Cancelling downscales audio from the outside world to ensure you enjoy as much dampening as you need. Every time you do, you will be reminded of how plasticy and cheap the construction is. This isn’t something you want after you’ve just bought a $350 pair of headphones.

The sound quality is phenomenal and you can always turn off the NC feature on iPhone by swiping down on the top right and holding the volume bar. The Sony WH-H900N/h.ear on 2 Wireless have similar performance to the Wireless. The Sony have a better-balanced default sound profile and more customization options, thanks to their companion app.

If you want something more comfortable and with the best active noise cancelling for less than $400 USD, look into the Bose QuietComfort 45. This headset is, as the name suggests, insanely comfortable and easy to travel with. You get SBC and AAC Bluetooth codec support along with a wired input for lossless playback. The Bose Music app works with iOS and Android, though, as of November 29, 2021, there’s no way to EQ the sound of the QC 45.

Beats rates battery life at about 22 hours of audio playback with NC on, or about 40 hours with it off, both of which are excellent.
