No one vacuum is the perfect choice for every cleaning need, so we usually recommend keeping several styles in your cleaning arsenal, and a stick vac should certainly be part of the mix. In deciding between the two Shark vacuums, I would make the choice mainly by your budget. The vacuums are both quite similar but the Vertex is a step up in suction power and its larger wheels make it easier to push on carpet.
When comparing their stick vacuums to Dyson’s offerings, Shark vacuums feel better built and sturdier. However, they also tend to have a similar but slightly worse performance on carpet. Their upright vacuums usually perform better on all surface types than BISSELL vacuums.

The dustbins for the Dysons hold 0.8 quarts while the dustbins for the Rockets hold 0.34 quarts.
While cordless options are convenient for quick cleanup, the best vacuums for heavier jobs are the more powerful, corded models, like this Armor All Utility Shop Vacuum. If you chose not to buy a Dyson v10 or v11 because of the price, in my opinion it’s better to go with one of the newer Sharks than the older Dysons that are a similar price. Full-sized vacuums face a more challenging embedded-dirt test, in which our engineers try to clean up sand that has been ground into pile carpet.
