Dyson V11 vs Shark Rocket Pet Pro: Two powerful cordless vacuums compared

It stands up on its own, reaching just 69cm high when parked, but also comes with a wall mount for easy storage. The crevice nozzle is on the short side and a full recharge takes a hefty six hours, but this solid all-rounder is a steal for its price. This vacuum comes with two removable, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, each holding up to 80 minutes of run time. The Rocket Pet Pro ships with just two attachments, a crevice tool and a pet multitool. At $300, the Shark Rocket Pet Pro sure costs a lot less than Dyson’s flagship stick vac.

We measured how much sand, baking soda, dust, and hair each vac pulled from two types of rugs, plus bare floors. AirWatts combines suction power with airflow to give one score, where the higher the number is better. If you prefer an upright vacuum cleaner or one that has onboard tool storage, you may want to check out the alternatives. Cat hair combed into the carpet was no problem for this vacuum cleaner, either. If you don’t have space to store your vacuum in a cupboard, this sleek design would look neat on display.

The traditional self-standing design is easy to steer and store. Hoover has switched most of its lineup, including the Evolve, to a unified battery pack system, so finding replacement batteries should be easy for at least the next few years, and they’re reasonably priced, too. LG sells loads of CordZero variants, but the higher-end options aren’t as compelling as the low-end versions that we like. They are all essentially the same vacuum with the same cleaning power. In our last category test of stick vacuums alone, we collected 890 data points from just 12 vacuums.

Keep in mind the hose is 1.25 inches in diameter, so while you can easily collect dirt and dust, it won’t work for larger items like leaves. In our controlled tests, the V8 sucked more sand and baking soda out of more kinds of rugs than other cordless vacuums at this price , including popular sticks from brands like Bissell, Shark, and Tineco. It performed better on its lower-suction, battery-preserving setting than many other vacuums did on their maximum-suction, battery-draining settings. On its Max setting, the V8 even outperformed some models that are significantly more expensive, too.

The Shark Vertex DuoClean PowerFins Cordless Stick Vacuum was the clear winner in our search for the best Shark vacuum—and best vacuum in general. Although we recently tested the irobot vacuum cleaner Pro with Clean Sense IQ, the newest model in this specific line, it did not compare in suction capability or ease of use to the older PowerFins model. The Shark Vertex PowerFins Vacuum features powerful suction on all surfaces, a storage-friendly handle, and generally quiet operation. As we discovered in The Lab, it has the power you need to leave your carpets deeply clean and your hardwood floors sparkling.

Clearly, the brush roll and the cleaning head design play a huge part in cleaning performance, but we don’t know how to quantify their effect. If you’re sticking to a budget, you’ll still get a good clean from the Shark NV360 Navigator Lift-Away bissell crosswave cordless Deluxe Upright Vacuum. This more basic Shark vacuum lacks features like a self-cleaning brush roll, but still qualifies as a quality upright vacuum thanks to its fully-sealed system with HEPA filtration and lift-away canister option.

Marisa Cascianois a senior commerce editor for The Spruce, and has been in The Lab for our vacuum tests. She has firsthand knowledge of how our vacuum tests were both developed and performed, as well as where each product excelled or fell short. Before conducting lab testing, she scoured brand and retailer websites, and considered price, verified customer reviews, features, and design when selecting the vacuums to test.

Some might not enjoy the design but then a vacuum of this compact size will be stored away out of sight most of the time anyway. There’s something about a clean bissell crosswave cordless car that just makes you feel like you’ve got your life together. A trusty car vacuum to get rid of any flyaway crumbs, mud and dust, among other things.
