The two other safety razors we tried had handles that were awkward to hold, so we had to constantly readjust our grip to get a comfortable shave. The cartridge razors couldn’t provide as close a shave as any of our safety razors. The single, double-edged, stainless steel blades take a little more patience and skill to maneuver, but the result is a wildly close shave.
We believe the Braun Series 7 is worth its higher price, but the Remington F is a surprisingly competent budget alternative. It provides credible stubble-leveling results at an affordable price. Braun’s Series 7 razors have been around in various forms for more than a decade, and they have built a reputation for producing close shaves, being durable, and providing convenience and value. It’s still our favorite razor, and it has become an even better choice because it’s significantly less expensive than it used to be. And while the Philips Series 9000 Prestige shaves better and looks much better than its Braun rival, it’s not worth paying twice as much for a shave that is only slightly better. Please be aware that to use these stations properly means you will need to buy replacement cartridges of cleaning fluid, FOREVER. You could, of course, not bother with that and just pop the top off and rinse the blades under the tap after every use. However, the crucial thing to be aware of is that the most recent Brauns have model codes beginning 93 and the most recent Philips ones begin S97 or S95 – plus the Prestige.

Battery life is very good (50 mins on a full charge of its Li-Ion battery) but the sparse icon-based manual sucks and I’m not the only one to think so. But, hey, that’s small fry stuff compared to the Series 7 70’s insane ability to shave so amazingly close.
I experienced this first hand when I neglected to clean the shaver after three shaves. On the fourth shave, the blades were noticeably cutting worse than when I first got the shaver. If the battery runs flat on you, a 5 minute charge is all that is needed for 3 minutes of shaving. If you don’t mess around, that is plenty of time for a full shave. From my experience, only frequent shavers will need to change the shaving heads yearly.
