iRobot® Roomba® i1+ 1552 Wi-Fi Connected Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum, Ideal for Pet Hair, Carpets

Like the Roomba 694, the Eufy’s navigation is semi-random, so it’s best for cleaning just a few rooms at a time. It’s not great at getting pet hair out of plush rugs, but it’ll work fine for keeping bare floors and short rugs pretty tidy. The RoboVac 11S was even the top pick in this guide for a couple of years. However, over time we’ve realized that, unlike the basic Roomba 600 series models, the basic Eufy series isn’t durable, nor is it built to be repaired. Like many robot vacuums at this price, the Roomba i3 EVO can thoroughly clean big spaces, by following a logical, orderly path throughout your home. It won’t miss many spots or waste much time recleaning the same areas, like our budget picks or other low-end models that navigate semi-randomly.

However, the random algorithm has been shown to effectively cover rooms of various sizes and configurations, particularly when used repeatedly for maintenance cleaning. Thankfully, all the bots I tested have cliff sensors and none attempted to dive off the stairs. They get the surface, but if you have a carpeted house or lots of rugs, I’d recommend investing in a stick vac as well for weekly deep cleans.

In this model the vacuum cleaner motor is replaced by a “cargo bay” for mounting devices like TV cameras, lasers and other robotic parts. It provides a greatly enhanced 25-pin interface providing both analog and digital bidirectional communication with the hosted device allowing use as the mobile base for completely new robots. Together with a computing platform like a netbook or handheld device with wireless networking, it can be remotely controlled through a network. The early generation models were noted for using a random algorithm for achieving a total room coverage.A small vacuum empties into a removable dustbin, which has rotation brushes to aid collection. It has several sensors including a bumper that detects collision and an infrared sensor on top to respond to a “virtual wall”.

However, unlike the Neato D7, our previous midrange robot vacuum pick, the Roborock S7 was much more effective at pulling sand away from both medium-pile (50.4%) and low-pile carpets (64.2%). Most self-emptying models transfer the contents of their bin into a bag, which can hold around 60 days’ worth of debris, depending on how often you vacuum and how dirty your home is. The nice thing about that is that you never have to come into contact with dust and debris. The downside is that you’ll eventually have to buy more bags when you run out.

The Neato Botvac D7 Connected makes our list of the best robot vacuums because it’s the fastest, and one of the smartest, robot vacuums we’ve tested. It finished our tests in an average of 10 minutes, 22 seconds, blitzing through pet hair, Cheerios, and kitty litter — and picking up a great deal of them, too. However, it wasn’t bissell crosswave cordless as effective as our top two picks, the Shark Ion R85 and the iLife V3s Pro, at collecting debris. Not only is the modestly priced Eufy Robovac G30 Edge robot vacuum a very good cleaner, but it’s a very quiet one, too. We barely heard it as it made its rounds as is made its way through our rooms in a very methodical pattern.
