When you compare it to the 5090 (it’s older brother), there’s a 5-minute improvement. Thankfully, Braun reconsidered Remington Shaver and went with a brand-new LED attachment with 5190cc. This thing is clearer in terms of intensity.
The trimmer has received quite a few complaints on how small it is compared to the trimmer on the previous Series 5 shaver. It is very easy to clean and can be washed with warm water without removing the blades while shaving with it, but after using it, it still requires cleaning properly. I still remove the blades to make sure it’s cleaned very well. This model has a fixed shaving head which is not as flexible while shaving as the higher-priced flexible head models. Buyers are looking at paying more for shavers with a flexible head compared to this model. Very good ergonomics and the slimline design with hand grips does make the series 5 very comfortable to use. The most fragile part of this shaver and all other electric shavers seems to be the head section with the cutters otherwise the whole unit feels solid.
The longer flat hairs were an issue and the shaver found it hard to pick them up. This is why it seems to work best without too much growth (i.e., less than 3 days). I enjoy wet shaving, however, in terms of closeness I did not notice any difference in closeness.

The new shavers are a complete departure from the current Series 5 that we all know. While it does have some minor flaws here and there the Series 5 should be your starting point if you want a fine example of a good foil shave. But achieving the perfect clean took a fair bit of time, more than you will have to spare if you are already running late for work. It is recommended that you clean your Series 5 shaver after each and every use. Holding the Braun Series 5 in your hand is a comfortable experience. The shaver is nicely weighted and has a premium feel to it.
I am convinced that flexible heads are a must on foil shavers, the difference they make in terms of comfort is surprising . 1 full charge provides up to 3 weeks’ worth of shaving. 5 min quick charge is sufficient for 1 full shave. Braun Series cc is equipped with a high-performance and high-capacity battery that can last up to 50 minutes with 1 hour of charging. Ordinary people spend at least 5 minutes shaving daily, and with this model, you can use it for at least ten days before you need to recharge. Braun Series cc is the most expensive lineup and comes with a Clean and Charge station.
If you can get the 32BT set and the overall price is still decent, I think that would be an even better solution. I personally like the 3040s better than the 5018s. The actual head is slimmer since there’s no foil frame surrounding the cutting elements and it feels more nimble and also glides easier on the skin.
