Beats Solo Pro Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones

To switch listening modes on your iPhone, go to Control Center and tap and hold the headphones volume control. Press the mode button once to switch between Noise Cancelling and Transparency. Press twice to turn both modes off for maximum battery life. When you’re done hearing what you need to, just hit the button again to crank noise canceling back up.

The headphones are also capable of using the Apple Audio Sharing feature—if you’re near another person with compatible headphones, you can share audio wirelessly. That said, only a handful of headphones currently support this iOS 13 feature. The beats solo pro wireless headphones are an improvement on the Beats Solo3 Wireless headphones.

The trade-off is comfort though, and after about 30 minutes of wearing the Solo Pro, I’m ready for a break. The headphones have Apple’s H1 chip, the replacement for its original W1 chip. Like the W1, it allows for quick pairing with iOS devices, and among other things, “Hey Siri” support for hands-free Siri communication. It also supports newer Bluetooth technology and provides lower latency as a result. If you’re connecting to an iOS device, turning the headphones on will trigger an on-screen prompt—press a button and you’re paired. And turning the headphones on or off is as simple as folding the headband hinge in or out.

I did happen to push beyond the pain to the two-hour mark, and the headset’s removal made me keenly aware of my sharp headache. But even as they are, the Solo Pros are perhaps the best headphones Beats has produced. The noise cancellation isn’t best in class, but it’s still quite good. Frequent travelers or people who care most about comfort might want to stick with Bose or Sony.

Solo Pro boasts an advanced acoustic platform with powerful, emotive sound and balanced tonality. Building off of the award-winning sound of Solo3 Wireless, we reengineered and upgraded the sound profile for an improved listening experience. With two distinct listening modes, you can choose whether you want to turn the world off – or on. It continuously pinpoints external sounds to block while automatically responding to individual fit in real time, optimizing sound output to deliver a premium listening experience.

The clamping force of the headset is so great, however, that a secure fit is easy to come by. That’s impressive for a pair of on-ear headphones, whose passive noise isolation you might expect to be inferior to that of over-ear models. In fact, my only gripe regarding the headphone’s noise cancelling is that the microphones sometimes pick up and amplify wind turbulence. That’s not a problem specific to the Solo Pro – we’ve seen it on other ANC headphones as well – but it can be quickly remedied by switching off ANC and transparency.

Fans of bass-heavy music and audio will likely favor the Beats Solo Pro headphones thanks to their noise-canceling properties and bass enhancement features. He headphones work well in both wired and wireless mode, with subtle differences in battery life for either mode. One last feature specific to Apple products is the paired listening. You can connect two pairs of Beats Solo Pro headphones to a single iOS device. Therefore, you can share your audio files with friends, co-workers, and family.

The beats solo pro wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones meet both of those requirements, and starting Nov.22 at 7 p.m., they’re on sale at Walmart for Black Friday. ANC is a power-hungry technology, though; so you will see a major decrease in battery life from the old to the new Beats on-ears. The Beats Solo3 Wireless boasts just over 45 hours of playtime on a single charge, which is more than double what the Beats Solo Pro provides with noise cancellation on. After about the 24-hour mark, battery life longevity becomes overkill and a way for companies to flex on spec sheets, but it’s impressive nonetheless.
