I Tested the Ozark Trail 10

These tents have a large, rectangular floor space with walls that slope slightly inward. They offer quite a lot of headroom throughout, unlike dome tents that have more steeply sloping walls. These tents will usually also include a taller entrance, making getting in and out of it easier. One drawback to these tents is that they don’t tend to withstand strong winds as well as some other models, but they’re great for casual camping. The 14 person cabin tent comes with an excellent design that can accommodate 4 families.

My personal favorite Ozark Trail tent is the 12-person, 3-room instant cabin tent. It provides a ton of space in an easy-to-carry package that sets up in minutes AND provides three rooms that give the entire gang loads of space to spread out. Ozark Trail makes an affordable quality family tent, and this 10-person instant cabin tent is no different.

I forgot to measure the height of the bathtub flooring, but I think it’s about 5 inches. I don’t think this Ozark Trail 10-Person Tent will do very well against strong winds. This is a cabin tent, so the shape isn’t aerodynamic at all. Also, when it’s raining, there’s hardly any ventilation.

It will go up a lot easier with someone helping out to keep the set-up time to under 2 minutes. If you are pitching it in less than ideal weather, you will be happy you have an extra set of hands helping out. This rated 20′ x 14′ family tent is not one that I would recommend to anyone; especially as a family tent. Firstly, even though I took every precaution possible to seal each and every seam in the tent, it still leaked during two medium rains. I just had it in a 12 hour driving rainstorm in Florida, 28 degrees. It leaked very little considering the horizontal rain in 50 mph winds. I could still sleep in it that night and all my bedding and clothing were fine. I consider this tent a fine tent, especially for the money.

On top of that, the sealed seams are another great way of keeping the rain out. Despite its unique shape, this tent takes no time to set up thanks to the pre-attached pole system – you never need to worry about losing the instructions again, phew. And we love that this tent has an E-port too so that you stay hooked up to the campsite mains. Don’t worry though, if it starts to feel a little gloomy in there simply make use of the 8 large windows to soak in the surrounding scenery. That’s why brands such as Ozark Trail have done so well in recent years. Ozark is known for producing entry-level camping gear that covers all the basics yet won’t break the bank – perfect for first-time or occasional campers.

The fly covers it enough to have a dry entry and also to keep your shoes there protected. There is a small pre-attached mat there as well, but the ozark trail 4 person dome tent porch is generally floorless. Overall, it’s a well-designed tent with many convenient features for those who want to get out and enjoy nature.

Plus, the three large windows plus oversized ground vents will remove condensation and stop you from cooking in hot weather. We were pleasantly surprised to see that it features a fully closeable E-port too – something often lacking in smaller tents. Similarly, there are four storage pockets on the interior, which is a decent amount for such a small tent, so you can keep your bits and bobs orderly. Unlike many of Ozark’s tents, this one is designed for couples who like to camp all year round.

While some have reported that the blackout material also traps heat inside the tent during the day, there are plenty of venting options that can help increase airflow. Another unique feature that is quite rare among instant set up tents, is the dark room technology that is incorporated in this one, but we will touch more on that later. A good, top-of-the-line, rugged 10-person tent can cost anywhere from $200-$400, depending on what you need or want. If your tent becomes dirty on either the inside or the outside, clean it off with a sponge and a mild soap.

At the center of this model, the roof is 74 inches, so you’ll be able to move around with relative comfort if you’re under 6 feet 1 inch tall. A large mesh door, four mesh windows, and a breathable top ceiling all work together to keep everyone cool, even on hot days. Like cabin tents, they’re usually one large space that can be divided into two separate rooms by a removable divider. These tents offer the maximum amount of headroom throughout since the walls don’t slope down as much as in dome or cabin tents, making them a great option for taller campers. They also usually have multiple doors for entry and exit, so as not to disturb your fellow campers. This design does tend to make them blow around a lot in windy conditions, however.
