Chromatic aberration has been reduced by 56% and lens distortion had been reduced by 36% compared to Phantom 3 Professional. The Pro+ has all the technology of the Pro with the addition of the upgraded Lightbridge HD remote controller featuring a HD screen. 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz transmissions are available allowing pilots to cut through interference and remove lag. Video transmission of up to 4.3 miles is not available helping pilots go even further.
It’s been less than a year since the release of the Phantom 3 Professional, but drone technology is advancing rapidly, and now DJI has introduced the phantom 4. It’s a refinement of the Phantom 3 Professional, with a beefed-up design, improved intelligent flight options, and a new and very clever object-avoidance system. There are tweaks to the camera’s performance, but the major upgrades are the robust design, improved materials, and clever flight aids using new sensors.
The Pro offers two remote controllers, one with a dedicated screen (Phantom 4 Pro+) and one without. The Phantom 4, released in March 2016, introduces a safer and better quick release propeller system. It also improves usability by adding obstacle avoidance and an ability to track subjects , thanks to its five sensors.
In our testing, battery life averaged above 25 minutes, which is equal or better than comparably sized camera drones. The remote control can be charged at the same time as the battery and in our testing lasted through three full flights without a problem. The Phantom line was already the nimblest of the half dozen drones I’ve tested, but the sport mode puts it in a class all its own.
The Phantom 4 Pro adds identical sensors on the rear, preventing it from backing into objects. The DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone adds additional obstacle sensors and a vastly improved camera to the already stellar Phantom 4. Sport Mode – Probably the fastest setting on any camera drone, this allows the quadcopter to reach a maximum speed of 45 mph. When Beginner mode is switched off, the Phantom 4 will default to a maximum flight altitude of 390 feet above the takeoff point. Based on its altitude at the time of disconnection, the Phantom 4 Pro is also able to adjust its flight path to avoid obstacles it has seen during its flight.
