DJI Phantom 4 Multispectral Quadcopter

An added layer of confusion for many would-be drone enthusiasts is where you can fly your drone legally. Each country has its own set of rules which seem to be in a state of constant evolution, with authorities figuring out just how to handle this accessible new technology. Lightroom’s Map feature uses GPS data from the dji drones to show exactly where your photos were taken. The DJI Go app also includes a simple way to piece together a movie on your iPad, along with free background music for you to use. It’s clear that DJI wants you to share as much footage as possible , and has made the process very simple.

Basically, it allows you to set up a single-point flight path on the fly, assuming that point is in front of the drone. Combine this with the drone’s automatic takeoff with a swipe and a tap in the app and, well, yes, anyone could put the Phantom 4 in the air and “fly” it. The Obstacle Sensing System only sees things in front of the drone. You still need a tablet or phone ready to go along with the controller and drone battery.

More powerful video processing supports H.264 4k videos at 60 fps or H.265 4k at 30 fps, both with a 100 Mbps bitrate. Advanced sensors and processors ensure everything is captured with more image detail and the image data needed for advanced post production. It’s still an Editors’ Choice winner, and it greatly improves on the Phantom 4’s imaging and video capture capabilities, while adding modest improvements in obstacle avoidance and flight time. It’s just not the jaw-dropping standout the Phantom 4 was at launch. But like the Phantom 4, we’re naming the Phantom 4 Pro our Editors’ Choice.

The default settings start the controller beeping starting at 30 percent battery and then lands you automatically at 10 percent. These can be shut off, but, you know, they’re there for a reason. DJI’s Go mobile app for iOS and Android devices is used not only for getting a view from the drone’s camera, but adjusting settings and seeing all your important flight data and battery status. Connect your device to the controller via a USB cable, open the app and voila, it’s all at your fingertips. Offering a valuable performance increase over the best of the Phantom 3 line, the was the logical update to the Phantom drone line. A capable quadcopter with an easy to use controller, a rich set of autonomous flight features and a camera that defined aerial video for a time.

The Phantom FC40, was an upgrade from the Phantom 1 as it included a gimbal-less camera. The aircraft used 5.8 GHz for control allowing 2.4 GHz to be used for wifi FPV. It is equipped with an iOS/Android app control, Wi-Fi and GPS modules. Using a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection, it helps its pilot follow in real time via aerial pictures on a mobile device. However, FPV range was limited by the signal strength of the mobile device as the connection between the two was direct. The mount can also be used to attached a GoPro camera to the unit as well.

He also suggests an alternative solution camera makers could employ that doesn’t require extra ports at all. I’ve owned a DJI Phantom 2 Vision, Phantom 3 Pro and now a Pro+. Very interested in the Autel dual camera unit but haven’t seen a price on the unit to this point.

The DJI dji drones Pro V. 2.0 also contains a wealth of intelligent flight modes. TapFly, for example, lets users simply tap on the desired location on the screen, and have the drone automatically fly there, avoiding obstacles and adjusting elevation as it needs. ActiveTrack lets users tap to select a subject and have the drone automatically follow the selected subject using either Trace , Spotlight , or Profile modes. Draw mode lets users plot a flight path by simply using their finger to draw a course. Capture the best image data with a 1-inch, 20-megapixel CMOS sensor. Mechanical shutter makes mapping missions or regular data capture seamless as the Phantom 4 RTK can move while taking pictures without the risk of rolling shutter blur.
