Iranian F-4s were in use as of late 2014; the aircraft reportedly conducted air strikes on ISIS targets in the eastern Iraqi province of Diyala. The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force Phantoms saw heavy action in the Iran–Iraq War in the 1980s and were kept operational by overhaul and servicing from Iran’s aerospace industry. The Hellenic AF operated 34 upgraded F-4E-PI2000 and 12 RF-4E aircraft as of September 2013. In 1973, under the “Peace Rhine” program, the Luftwaffe purchased the F-4F (a lightened and simplified version of the F-4E) which was upgraded in the mid-1980s. 24 German F-4F Phantom IIs were operated by the 49th Tactical Fighter Wing of the USAF at Holloman AFB to train Luftwaffe crews until December 2004.

There’s also a micro SD card that comes with the drone for immediate use. The Phantom 4 looks like an iPhone with its glossy white body, which makes sense considering Apple was the only distributor until the end of March. The Phantom 4 drone has many small changes from the Phantom 3, which is partly due to DJI hoping to alleviate some of the problems earlier versions had. The DJI mantle is one that’s difficult to live up to – such is the price of success, as people always expect the moon with every generation.
The batteries on the controller and the Phantom 4 take around 90 minutes to charge. If you’re planning any extended drone usage, I’d definitely advise investing in a couple of extra ‘Intelligent Flight’ batteries. To answer the question simply, I do not recommend this drone to just anyone.
This same system also allows it to hover in position without GPS. Combined with infrared sensors on its left and right sides, the Pro can avoid obstacles in a total of four directions. The advanced image recognition algorithms used by the Phantom 4 Pro will allow it to recognize and track the object while keeping it in frame. This new algorithm also recognizes more subjects, from people to vehicles to animals, and will adjust its flight dynamics to match, ensuring smoother shots. But I have seen plenty of Phantoms that were seriously damaged and that would still start up and fly.
Still this is the first iteration of DJI’s object detection system, and it’s not hard to imagine future releases adding more cameras around the body of the Phantom to make detection possible on all sides. It will also be interesting to see what sort of software upgrades DJI might offer to make the system stronger. You lose the object avoidance powers if you snap on the optional prop guards.
