A beep sound confirms that the shaver sits properly in the C&C.

The beard trimmer is identical to that of the Series 9. Even if you are the most clumsy person on earth, this thing is staying in your hands, wet or dry. The Braun Series 5 is definitely one of the nicer looking shavers on the market. The black color scheme with silver and red highlights has really had some thought put into it. The travel case has just enough room for the Series 5 Shaver.

The ActiLift takes that a thousand times past the other shaver. It will lift and direct flat hairs into the foils. It never grows the same direction, which can make shaving some areas very difficult. The Series s has an AutoSensing motor that takes note of the thickness of your beard and adjusts itself accordingly. It’ll intuitively give you a close shave even in areas where your whiskers grow in thicker. The 310s doesn’t have a sensor to change the power of the shaver.

It gives you a close shave while protecting the skin. The blades sit behind a SensoFoil that will smooth the skin and protect the face. It’s Remington Shaver technology that Braun has perfected for all their shavers starting with the Series 3. It’s available in all the Series 5 shavers, too.

There’s a Clean&Charge station to hygienically clean, lubricate and dry the shaver with a proprietary alcohol-based solution. Although our testers thought the Series 5’s cleaning cartridge was “kind of a pain to install”, they were pleased with its result. With two foil blades and an ActiLift middle trimmer, the Series 5’s shaving head is designed to cut uniformly and to capture flat-lying hair.
