The dial in the center of the screen easily allows you to adjust the temperature in 5-degree intervals and the text is large and easy to read. Even if you’re someone who hates reading manuals, we have a feeling you’ll be able to figure this one out. The first thing we noticed was the serious cooking power. The Instant Vortex Pro 9-in-1 air fryer 10 quart got food crispier than most of the other air fryers we’ve tried.

We managed with a serving spoon and a spatula, but it’s not ideal. The basket looks like a deep fryer basket and one of those cages for lottery balls combined. It holds a fair amount of food and the slow rotating motion cooks evenly without burning. The caveat here is the Vortex only has eight buttons, four of which are those programs, plus Start, Cancel, Time and Temp.
The square-shaped design of this model gives you more room to fit food in the cooking basket compared to smaller fryers with rounded baskets. Our product tester noted the basket shape helps spread food out a bit more versus piling it on top of each other, which can lead to less crisp cooking results. In tests, this air fryer heated quickly, cooked evenly, and was extremely efficient.
