This model is a larger grill with four stainless steel burners that can deliver a total of 69,000 BTU and 844 square inches of cooking area, divided into various segments. The Genesis II E-310 can serve up to ten people despite its small size. The three stainless steel burners can produce a lot of heat, delivering 37,500 BTU and 513 square inches of cooking area. While the cooking area is less than Spirit, the heat output is significantly more. You have the option of tucking away or extending the warming rack. The fuel tank is mounted on the right side with the same large fuel gauge.

The Genesis II turned in mixed results on our beer can chicken test, designed to assess how well a grill operates at medium heat. I again used one of the grill’s probes to tell me when the internal temperature reached 165 degrees. I also set the left and right burners to the midway mark as indicated by on their dials.

This means that the ports are less likely to become clogged due to corrosion or grease buildup, which cuts down on maintenance. Each style has definite benefits, and which one you choose is a matter of personal preference. However, we prefer the ergonomic lids and durable oversized wheels that are available on the Genesis II models. Neither will affect the grill’s performance, but we think they’re easier on the eyes. With the updated line, it appears that Weber is attempting to designate the style based on the last number used in the model’s name.

For those with limited space but a lot of mouths to feed, it’s worth noting that more deluxe versions of the grill offer a side burner built into the table on the right. The other gas-grilling weak spot I hoped this Weber could overcome is obtaining a good, hard sear. I picked up a ribeye and let the grill preheat for 15 minutes, which left the heat deflectors glowing orange.

You get 450 square inches of cooking space when you account for the warming rack and the main cooking surface. Our main complaint for just about every grill is the obligatory, built-in heat estimator in the hood. These 19th century gauges placed up high in the lid can be portable bbq off by 50 to 100 degrees from the actual cooking temp. Since its inception in the 1950s, Weber has been an industry leader when it comes to backyard grilling. Weber Genesis II Stainless Steel Gas GrillsThe stainless steel selection of Weber Genesis gas grills comes with a very important feature beyond the obvious outside styling. The grates in S-315, S-335, S-435, and SX-335 gas grills are 7 mm thick stainless steel rods. We had no problems with the meat sticking to the flat, porcelain-coated iron grates. And we had no problems with flare-ups, the grease fires that produce charring and acrid smoke. The Genesis II range of grills from Weber remain the best gas grills around.
