Dji Mini 2 Fly More Combo

The app will then check firmware compatibility automatically. After attaching the 360° Propeller Guard, the aircraft will weigh more than 250 grams. This means that in some countries and regions, you may need to obtain a related license when flying with this accessory attached.

The significant difference when shooting stills is the Mini 2’s ability to shoot Raw (.dng) files which offer photographers a good deal more room for manoeuvre back at the desk. The Mavic Mini Battery gives a flight time of around 30 minutes – which is well above most competing drones at this price point. It seems to me that in an effort to provide the highest possible photo and video quality, while keeping the dji drones mini drone below 250-grams, DJI has gone all out and made sacrifices elsewhere in the design. There is one more downside to this camera and that is the lack of support for ND filters. I’ve seen some third-party options online, but the camera isn’t designed for them. On rare occasions some video clips did look choppy due to very fast shutter speeds, but for the most part it has been surprisingly tolerable.

Even with level five wind resistance, a blustery London skyline was child’s play for this quadcopter. The DJI Mini 2 is an ultra-compact drone that’s so small and easy to use that you can slip it out of a jacket pocket and launch it within seconds. That makes it the ideal drone for beginners who want to capture 4K video without some of the high-tech wizardry of the pricier DJI drones that dominate our best drones list.

From a portability point of view, this drone is in a league of its own. Firstly, its four prop arms fold in to create a package no larger in width and length than an iPhone 11. And even when in flight mode with arms extended and propellers fitted, it’s just 245mm in width, 289mm in length and 56mm in height. When folded, even with the collapsible props in situ, it will easily fit into an outdoor jacket pocket.

Like the original Mini, there aren’t any Intelligent Flight modes, like ActiveTrack or Point of Interest, available. The screenshot below was taken using ‘DU RECORDER’ while doing a photogrammetry project with Pix4Dcapture. Recording dji drones both the screen and the sound of the app could have turned out to be of exceptional importance. The battery was faulty and showed the wrong voltage, causing the drone to do an emergency landing that luckily did not end in a crash.

A notable omission, when compared to the original Mavic Mini’s Fly More combo, is the 360-degree propeller guard. As for price, this premium package will set you back $559 / £549 / AU$949. The Mini 2 on its own is $449, which we think is very reasonable. For comparison, the original Mavic Mini costs $399, but that model can’t capture 4K video.

This drone also comes with a raft of autonomous quick-shot functions including Dronie, Circle, Helix, Rocket and Boomerang. It will also shoot 4K Hyperlapse and three types of panorama on its own with no input from the pilot. In short, be careful with the Mavic Mini batteries on your Mini 2. If you buy the standard version and need to buy more batteries, you probably should consider buying the ones manufactured for the Mini 2, even if that means paying a little more. It has been a year since the official launch of the DJI Mini 2, time flies… I bought mine in January but did not start flying it until mid-March or so.

With just a few taps, the SE automatically records and shoots professional-level videos to share directly on social media. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a beginner or a more experienced flyer; anyone can use the DJI Fly app to produce impressive results complete with soundtracks and filters. QuickShots is a smart feature that most DJI drone users know and love. One of the coolest things you can do with a micro drone is fly around and shoot mind-blowing selfies that will wow your friends and family on social media. With the QuickShot modes, the micro drone does all of the complicated flying motions for you, allowing you to sit back and focus on giving your best pose for the camera.
