The significant difference when shooting stills is the Mini 2’s ability to shoot Raw (.dng) files which offer photographers a good deal more room for manoeuvre back at the desk. The Mavic Mini Battery gives a flight time of around 30 minutes – which is well above most competing drones at this price point. It seems to me that in an effort to provide the highest possible photo and video quality, while keeping the dji drones mini drone below 250-grams, DJI has gone all out and made sacrifices elsewhere in the design. There is one more downside to this camera and that is the lack of support for ND filters. I’ve seen some third-party options online, but the camera isn’t designed for them. On rare occasions some video clips did look choppy due to very fast shutter speeds, but for the most part it has been surprisingly tolerable.

Like the original Mini, there aren’t any Intelligent Flight modes, like ActiveTrack or Point of Interest, available. If you buy the standard version and need to buy more batteries, you probably should consider buying the ones manufactured for the Mini 2, even if that means paying a little more. It has been a year since the official launch of the DJI Mini 2, time flies… I bought mine in January but did not start flying it until mid-March or so.
