Braun Series 5 Shaver, Blue

During this time the shaver is switched on and off several times and the fluid passes repeatedly through the shaving head, cleaning and removing hairs and dirt. This is an area where most electric shavers I’ve used have struggled. As long as the hairs aren’t completely flat and unreasonably long, the Series 5 will do just fine. The cleaning station runs off the same charging cord that plugs directly into the Series 5 shaver.

Series 5 has a larger body but feels well-balanced in hand. The shavers from both series come with a textured plastic wrap for a more secure grip for both dry and wet shaving. The shaving blade systems in Series 5 and 7 are fairly similar. They consist of two foils with a trimmer mechanism located in between.

In my experience, the differences between the old Series 7 and the Series 9, especially since you shave more often, would be minor. In terms of closeness, I personally don’t see any Philips Norelco Shaver differences and I also have sensitive skin. Some users do, others don’t, but I think it would be a very safe choice for you and for anyone that deals with post-shave irritation.

Braun Series 5

These elements make it easy to get a close and comfortable shave. Their products are always high-quality, and they seem to be some of the most popular on the market today! But not all of their shavers are designed for the same needs. In this new inclusion to the series, we see a major design shift.

There is no doubt that the Series 5 is in a whole other league compared to shaving with the series 3. But if you are feeling frugal or are in circumstances where you have to count every penny then there are websites dedicated to making your own cleaning solution. One particular area I did have problems with where the hairs right under the bridge of my nose. It took some maneuvering but I was eventually able to slay these odd looking hairs. Braun does not appear to have made any effort to dampen the vibrations and every thunderous stroke of the internal motor is felt in the palm of your hand.

As a result, they may charge what is known as a hazardous material handling fee. While the fee is generally minor, it is worth mentioning, especially if you plan to ship this product internationally. If you travel a lot or simply want to keep your shaver clean when not in use, a travel case is a must. The hard outer shell is just the thing you need to keep your shaver safe from drops. The Braun Series 5 has an 8-directional contour flex head that provides plenty of movement. Having a flexible head is perfect for those who like to go for the bald look.

While the 5090cc in our review is waterproof and can be safely rinsed with water, you cannot use it in the shower or with shaving cream or gel. When fully extended, it just about passes the shaving head so you can sort of see what you are doing. Overall I am pretty impressed with the shaving experience and would highly recommend, as long as you can get over the fact it feels like a jackhammer in your hand. If you are a daily shaver or love Braun’s other models then you will feel right at home with this shaver. From America to Australia and everywhere in between; you will be able to charge your shaver when the battery dies.

You want to be careful carrying it on the go to avoid draining the battery. However, you can lock a Series 5 shaver when traveling by simply pressing and holding the switch for 3 seconds. It’s hard to find fault with this shaver – it performs well, it looks great and it’s priced competitively. Even the negatives aren’t a big deal, and most people will be able to cope without a pouch or being able to see the battery display when the shaver is plugged in. Sure, we’d like a longer battery life, but with so much else going for the Series 5, we’d be prepared to waive that.

But Braun left the built-in trimmer idea and used detachable trimmer technology in the new series 5. The new detachable precision trimmer looks like the dedicated trimmers. I observed the new trimmer is more useful than the older ones. Because I could trim off my full beard with the new precision trimmer. The trimming result was not as satisfactory as the professional trimmers though. However, it might be a downside as well for the users who don’t like to use brute force.
